Cats The Musical
De eerste voorstelling van Cats vond op 11 mei 1981 plaats in West End, Londen in het New London Theatre. De musical werd oorspronkelijk geproduceerd door Cameron Mackintosh en The Really Useful Theatre Company, het bedrijf van Andrew Lloyd Webber. Op 7 oktober 1982 maakt de show zijn debuut op Broadway in het Winter Garden Theatre. Cats is 8.949 keer in Londen opgevoerd, en 7.485 keer in New York; waarmee Cats de langstlopende musical ooit op Broadway en in Londen geweest is.
Cats The Movie
Cats is een muzikale fantasyfilm uit 2019 gebaseerd op de gelijknamige musical uit 1981 van Andrew Lloyd Webber, die op zijn beurt was gebaseerd op de dichtbundel Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats (1939) van T.S. Eliot. De film werd geregisseerd door Tom Hooper, in zijn tweede speelfilm musical na Les Misérables (2012), naar een scenario van Lee Hall en Hooper. Het beschikt over een ensemble cast, waaronder James Corden, Academy Award winnaar Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson en Francesca Hayward.
